Wat Hua Lamphong – Coffin Temple

Whenever someone asks me for a suggestion to shoot at a beautiful temple without the hoards of tourists, I immediately blurt out ‘Wat Hua Lamphong’. It’s extremely easy to get to because it sits right on top of the Sam Yan MRT Station, but most taxi drivers in Bangkok will know the name anyway. The cost for foreigners to enter is 40 baht each. The thing with this temple is that it is raised and there is a nice wide staircase leading up to it – great for pictures. From up there you’re able to look around at the skyscrapers …

Lightroom Presets Save The Day

I go out and shoot a ton of images at time at various locations in Bangkok. Most of the time it’s those sweet honey-mooners or a family with small children that want to capture their magical time here in Thailand. During the peak seasons, I sometimes go to the Grand Palace and surrounding area 2-3 times a week just to go shoot some vacation photography. Needless to say, I had to quickly figure out a way to edit my photos in the most efficient time possible while maintaining the highest of quality. There is a fine line of speeding up …

Loy Krathong in Bangkok

This Friday November 23rd 2018 is actually the full moon night of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar, which is when Loy Krathong festival is celebrated in Bangkok and beyond. The romantic and superstitious event happens on a different day each year, so make sure you check the local calendars before heading out with your cameras. Loy literally translates to ‘float’ while krathong is the actual ‘vessel’ that you make and put offerings on put place in a body of water as part of the celebration. The whole country takes part and they are very welcoming of …

Norwegian Road Trip

The idea all started in a cramped 50 square meter high-rise condominium, dead center of the Metropolis that is Bangkok. It was decided that we were to leave the hustle and bustle of big city and book a flight to somewhere far, somewhere that would bring joyous tears to our eyes everywhere we looked. The search for beauty and grandiose was on. There were many wonderful destinations to pick from. We bickered and gave each other Powerpoint presentations in our heads about which place would be best, but we eventually ended up with The Land of the Midnight Sun. And …

Bikini Fashion Photography Workshop – Koh Samet

I went on an amazing once-in-a-lifetime bikini fashion photography mentorship on Koh Samet with the legendary Tada Varich of Vogue Thailand (among other publications) fame. As expected, he was very inspirational and gave such practical advice. There were also a few insider gossip and tips on how to succeed in the Thai fashion photography industry and how it differs from the west. I took in all the information he was spouting like a sponge. It was nice to rub shoulders with photographers from different fields and many were there to share their own knowledge too. The hotel we stayed at …

Looking Back To Africa

Ah! While looking through my Lightroom archives I always make sure to sneak a click or two in my Africa album. It was such an eye opener for me to be able to photograph animals in their natural habitat in such a faraway place. I couldn’t believe my luck when I was asked to fly (business class mind you!) on Kenya Airways to Tanzania by the Royal Bangkok Sports Club to do an article for their magazine. I got so excited and wanted to do my best, I rented a telephoto lens just for the occasion (EF 70-200mm f/4L IS …
