FaceTime Photoshoot

Tried making the best of the quarantine times and lucky for me, technology nowadays is advanced enough, that we can still create images even when we’re not in the same room. Enter FaceTime shoots. Yeah, you read that right… The idea for the FaceTime Photoshoot I saw there were a few photographers, some of which weren’t even professional, that were doing photoshoots through their iPhones. Of course, I had to give it a try! The trending hashtags were #facetimephotography and #facetimephotochallenge. There were already some models that I’ve been meaning to shoot with once the covid-19 situation was to die …

Bangkok Proposal Photography

Bangkok is definitely one of the top destinations for surprise proposals! Usually during December and January I get a huge spike in requests for proposal photography. I have shot at rooftop bars, riverside restaurants with majestic sunset views and places with the beautiful Thai temples as backdrops. Sometimes it’s quite an effort arriving at the location well before the customer (who you’ve never physically met) and sorting out the ideal shooting position while also informing the waiters and tables around the specific area. But of course, it’s all worth it as the proposal will only happen ONCE and I only …

Wat Hua Lamphong – Coffin Temple

Whenever someone asks me for a suggestion to shoot at a beautiful temple without the hoards of tourists, I immediately blurt out ‘Wat Hua Lamphong’. It’s extremely easy to get to because it sits right on top of the Sam Yan MRT Station, but most taxi drivers in Bangkok will know the name anyway. The cost for foreigners to enter is 40 baht each. The thing with this temple is that it is raised and there is a nice wide staircase leading up to it – great for pictures. From up there you’re able to look around at the skyscrapers …

I Shot Nok Usanee

It’s always a little bit difficult trying to shoot a celebrity here in Thailand. There’s certainly an abundance of talented photographers scattered throughout Bangkok ready to capture anyone remotely famous. But this time, I was lucky to shoot Miss Nok Usanee or Usanee Wattana if you wanted to be more formal (อุษณีย์ วัฒฐานะ). The young lady happens to be the long-time girlfriend of my ex-business partner – I’ll give you a moment to try and link that all together. A little background on Nok In case you didn’t know, she is a Thai soap opera actress here in Thailand and …

Lightroom Presets Save The Day

I go out and shoot a ton of images at time at various locations in Bangkok. Most of the time it’s those sweet honey-mooners or a family with small children that want to capture their magical time here in Thailand. During the peak seasons, I sometimes go to the Grand Palace and surrounding area 2-3 times a week just to go shoot some vacation photography. Needless to say, I had to quickly figure out a way to edit my photos in the most efficient time possible while maintaining the highest of quality. There is a fine line of speeding up …

Loy Krathong in Bangkok

This Friday November 23rd 2018 is actually the full moon night of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar, which is when Loy Krathong festival is celebrated in Bangkok and beyond. The romantic and superstitious event happens on a different day each year, so make sure you check the local calendars before heading out with your cameras. Loy literally translates to ‘float’ while krathong is the actual ‘vessel’ that you make and put offerings on put place in a body of water as part of the celebration. The whole country takes part and they are very welcoming of …

Lumpini Park Has It All

Lumpini Park and her 360rai is located right next to the CBD of Bangkok and is very accessible as there is a MRT Station right under it as well as a large parking area if you were to drive there. It is open from 4am all the way to 9pm, with plenty of joggers and cyclists around. There are views to Silom/Sathorn as well as Ratchadamri/Ratchaprasong areas. It is a great place to get away from the busy streets around there and just a few steps inside the gates and you’re already transported to a more serene environment. You can’t …

Best Floating Market in Thailand

The floating market that everyone raves about and wants to get to and take wonderful pictures is called Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, which literally translates to ‘travel freely’ and is actually located in Ratchaburi province just outside Bangkok, about 1 hour drive with no traffic. Damnoen Saduak got it’s name because it is actually a manmade canal that stretches 32 km to link Mae Khlong River to the Chinese river ways (between Ratchaburi and Samutsakhon Provinces). There are many long tail boat operators to choose from, some even with bolted on roofs to keep you out from the harsh sun, …
